Elana

“I love to infect others with the passion of creating their own yarns. It’s such a pleasure and a privilege to help someone acquire the skills they need to make the yarn that they have envisioned.”

Elana has been hand spinning since 2011 and attained her Master Spinner Certification (2020) from Olds College. Bringing the art and craft of the past into the present is Elana’s passion so learning and sharing hand spinning techniques with others is a natural fit for fulfilling this.

Not content to remain static with the skills acquired through the programme, Elana has continued to add to her body of knowledge by conducting her own studies in technical spinning and studying newly published papers within the textiles discipline. In addition, she has been studying instructional design theory so that she can continually improve her teaching practice and design educational material that will assist workshop participants to learn successfully.

Elana is on the teaching roster at Olds College for the Master Spinner Programme. She has been designing and teaching spinning classes since graduation and has been published in the international spinning publications Spin-Off and Ply.
